Instagram messages down: Users report issues with sending and disappearing messages

Today, complaints of Instagram downtime have begun flooding in, with users complaining that their messaging inbox is acting up. On Tuesday, July 5, at around 4 PM UK time, the independent outage tracker Down Detector saw a spike in Instagram down reports that persisted for hours. Around the same time that Facebook Messenger difficulties were detected by Down Detector, reports of Instagram downtime started to arrive.

Instagram users have been discussing their concerns on social media, complaining that they have trouble sending messages that later vanish.

Are anyone else's #instagram messages sending and then disappearing? said one Instagram user on Twitter.

Another person wrote: "@Instagram Why then do my communications keep disappearing while others' messages are hidden from view?"

"@Instagram My messages keep disappearing," one person added.

Express.co.uk contacted Instagram to inquire about any plans for a fix to the stated problems users are having.

The official Instagram Comms Twitter account hasn't responded to the stated concerns people are reporting as of this writing.

The popular social network's most recent reported glitches came after users of Instagram last week encountered difficulties with the photo-sharing tool.

Users of Instagram had trouble using the camera during the outage.

Down Detector noticed a continual stream of reports of Instagram being unavailable for more than 24 hours after the outage.
